The first hearing of the Heartbeat Bill in the Ohio Senate Health Committee on Wednesday went mostly well. Right to Life founder Dr. Jack Willke, Professor David Forte, and our other witnessess should have put to rest any concerns about "unintended consequences" or Constitutionality. And Baby Halley, who "testified" in the House Committee via ultrasound projector, while 9 weeks in the womb, was introduced to the Senate Committee exactly 9 months later, now 9 weeks old post birth! The House heard her heartbeat, the Senate saw her face.

There is an effort brewing to gut the bill by REMOVING THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF BABIES WITH BEATING HEARTS! Ohio Right to Life testified Wednesday that they are pushing for "an informed consent-only 'heartbeat bill.'" We can't let them cut the heart out of the Heartbeat Bill!

Breakthrough!

Dear VHC Family,
On Wednesday I shared with the church that Senator Niehaus told our leaders that the Heartbeat Bill would be assigned to committee that day. This is the next step that must take place before a floor vote to pass the bill. After several calls to Sen. Niehaus' office on Thursday and today I discovered there had been no change...and he was leaving town for 2 weeks.At 4:45pm today Janet Porter texted me to join a conference call at 5pm. I just got off the conference call (1 1/2 hrs long)...The announcement is this: Late today Senate President Niehaus has assigned the bill to a committee and there will be a very very important hearing this coming Wednesday around 1pm.

At this hearing critical testimony will be given by women who have had abortions and the trauma following, an OBGYN doctor, Right to Life leaders and others. Strategic and prayerful planning is now in progress by an incredible group of ladies (and a few men) who have carried this burden for years. I felt like I was in the War Room of Deborah as I was on this conference call. This is a major spiritual warfare moment in our state and over our nation. This team of leaders need tremendous prayer support!

Here is our part: Intercession! The team that is going before the Senate will be fasting Monday-Wednesday. You may want to fast and pray as well. We will be sending this call to prayer around the state!I will ask Marian and the intercessors to give us a daily prayer focus beginning tomorrow through Wednesday so we can pray in agreement.During the call Janet said she was reminded today that "God is just as good at finishing things as He is at starting things."Jdg 4:14 Deborah said to Barak, "Arise! For this is the day in which the LORD has given Sisera into your hands; behold, the LORD has gone out before you." Jdg 4:21 But Jael, Heber's wife, took a tent peg and seized a hammer in her hand, and went secretly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went through into the ground; for he was sound asleep and exhausted. So he died. So too we seek the complete defeat of legalized abortion in America!

Heartbeat Bill Three-Day Fast

Some important meetings regarding the Heartbeat Bill will be held this week in Columbus, Ohio. For a vote to take place this year, we need a breakthrough to send the bill to committee now!

Faith2Action Janet (Folger) Porter is asking everyone to pray and consider fasting in some way today, tomorrow, and Wednesday for a breakthrough in these meetings.

If a medical condition doesn't prevent it, consider doing a complete fast. Some may want to do a "Daniel fast" that includes no meats or lay aside something such as desserts or snacks. Ask God to show you what to do. Then, spend at least part of the time that you would normally spend on eating or food preparation in prayer.

I do believe the words of Barry Sheets spoken on Tuesday from the State Capitol...."We are at a tipping point of civilization". This war for life that we have been engaged in since the 70's is finding a David Company and a Deborah Company that is ready to strike now. Generations warring together have brought us to this moment in history. The nation has handed Ohio the sword and a mandate to take the head off the giant of legalized abortion in America - strong words but true!

The reality is we need 4 more Senators to vote yes! This should be easy since the majority of the senate is prolife....but infighting over "which bill" has blurred the vision of our leaders. They need an overwhelming voice from the people to pass the bill. We were commissioned by an 83 yr old general in this fight, Dr. Jack Wilke on Tuesday to get this done!
